Newton worked with an industrial company to implement a safety program in which each employee earned points for achieving predetermined safe work objectives as they related to their specific job performance. The objectives were tracked and measured by Newton on a monthly basis and reported to management.

Points were earned on an individual, team and facility basis. Employees received monthly statements advising points earned for the month as well as complete summary totals, points redeemed and point balance. Points were then redeemed for merchandise from the Merchandise Award Catalog.

Results

The solution was successful in reducing accident claims and improving safety records. Once the Safety Incentive was implemented, the facility realized 40 less claims, which reduced their claims costs by over $275,000.
